Which iPhone battery do you need?
The versions differ in what happens to the battery IC, the small board that tells iOS which battery is fitted, and that decides what Settings shows after the swap.

Not every model comes in every version. The product page for your model shows which versions are available, links between them, and explains what that version shows on that phone. Apple explains the labels in its guide to Parts and Service History.
When a battery is the actual problem
A phone that shuts down at twenty percent, throttles under load, or will not last an afternoon it used to manage is describing a worn battery rather than a software fault. Batteries lose usable capacity with every charge cycle: Apple designs iPhone batteries to keep 80% of their original capacity after 500 to 1,000 complete charge cycles, depending on the model. For a phone used daily, the drop usually becomes obvious somewhere around the two year mark. Settings > Battery shows where yours is.
Finding the right battery for your model
Every iPhone takes its own battery. Capacity, shape and connector change between models, and two batteries with the same capacity can still have different connectors, so match the listing to your phone’s model number. You will find it in Settings > General > About, and every product page lists the model numbers it fits.
What the job needs besides the battery
- Battery adhesive. Most batteries here come with it applied or in the box, and each product page says exactly what is included. If yours needs it, add battery adhesive strips.
- Screen or back glass adhesive to reseal the phone once it is closed.
- Opening tools and a heat source, from our repair tools range. Some newer iPhones use battery adhesive that releases with a low-voltage supply, and their product pages explain how.

Which battery versions are available for my iPhone?
It depends on the model. The product page for your iPhone shows the versions available and links to each one.
What is the difference between Standard, Cell Only and Pairing Ready?
Standard is a complete battery with its own new IC. Cell Only is a bare cell that keeps the phone’s original IC, soldered on. Pairing Ready is a complete battery with a pre-paired chip, so iOS lists it as Genuine, marked Used.
Will my iPhone still show Battery Health after a new battery?
Yes. A Standard battery shows a percentage, though Apple notes that health readings for a battery it cannot verify might not be accurate. A Pairing Ready battery shows a percentage and is listed as Genuine, marked Used, after Restart & Finish Repair. A Cell Only battery carries on with the data stored on the phone’s original IC.
Will iOS say my battery is Unknown?
On iPhones that check batteries, a Standard battery is listed as Unknown in Parts and Service History, and the phone works normally. Pairing Ready and Cell Only batteries avoid the label. Older iPhones that do not check batteries show no message at all.
Do I need new battery adhesive?
Check the product page: it says whether the adhesive comes applied, in the box, or not at all. If it is not included, fit fresh battery adhesive strips.
How long should a replacement battery last?
With daily use, a new battery typically holds good capacity for around two years before it starts to fade, much like the original.
