Batteries lose usable capacity with every charge cycle, and the drop becomes obvious somewhere around the two year mark for a phone used daily.
Cells are listed per model. The capacity, the connector position and the shape of the cell all change between generations, so the model has to match.
What the job needs beyond the cell
Battery adhesive strips, since the pull tabs holding the old cell are consumed on removal
