A MacBook is usually worth repairing
A machine with a swollen battery or a dead key is frequently worth several times the cost of the part, and the trade-in value of the same machine is not. That gap is the reason this category exists.
MacBook Air parts: batteries, keyboards and charging ports
MacBook 13 inch parts across the Pro 13-inch family.
MacBook 14 inch parts across the Pro 14-inch family.
MacBook 15 inch parts across the Pro 15-inch family.
MacBook 16 inch parts across the Pro 16-inch family.
Identifying the machine
Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac, and read the model name and year. Apple keeps chassis dimensions across several years while changing the battery cell layout and the keyboard mechanism underneath, so the year matters as much as the size.
Swollen batteries are urgent
A swollen battery presses on the trackpad and can bow the case, and left charging unattended it is a genuine hazard. It should never be punctured, bent or left in the machine once identified. If the trackpad has stopped clicking properly or the machine no longer sits flat on a desk, check the battery before assuming the trackpad has failed.
Sourcing MacBook parts in New Zealand
GA Tech NZ repairs MacBooks in house, so the parts stocked here are the ones fitted on our own bench rather than a catalogue bought sight unseen. Stock is held in Queenstown rather than ordered in per sale, so orders placed before the 2pm cut-off dispatch the same working day and reach most New Zealand addresses overnight. Local pickup is available by appointment, and repair shops and resellers can request trade pricing through wholesale deals.
Drivers and prying tools sit under repair tools, cases under MacBook accessories, and workshop repairs are available if you would rather not open the machine.
MacBook parts questions answered
How do I find my MacBook model?
Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac. The model name and year identify which part category to buy from, and the year matters as much as the size.
Is a swollen MacBook battery dangerous?
It should be replaced promptly. A swollen cell presses on the trackpad and case, and it should never be punctured, bent, or left charging unattended.
Why has my trackpad stopped clicking?
Often a swollen battery pressing up from underneath rather than a trackpad fault. Check the battery before ordering a trackpad.
Do you replace MacBook batteries as a service?
Yes. GA Tech NZ repairs MacBooks as well as supplying parts, so you can request a repair or a fault assessment instead.
