A phone that shuts down with charge still showing, runs hot doing very little, or has visibly swollen has a worn cell rather than a fault elsewhere. Capacity falls with every charge cycle, and on an OPPO A38 in daily use the drop becomes noticeable after around two years.

How to fit the A38 / A58 4G battery

  1. Power the phone off completely before starting, since a punctured lithium cell can catch fire.
  2. Open the back cover and disconnect the battery connector from the board before touching the cell.
  3. Lift the old cell out of its bay. Never pry against it, bend it or puncture it.
  4. Fit the new cell, seating it flat in its bay and reconnecting the battery connector.
  5. Power the phone on and check it boots and charges before closing the back cover.
