About the iPad mini 4 replacement battery

An iPad that shuts down with charge still showing, runs hot doing very little, or has a visibly swollen case has a worn cell rather than a fault elsewhere. Capacity falls with every charge cycle, and in daily use the drop becomes noticeable after a few years.

This is a zero-cycle, factory-fresh 19.32 Wh cell, dimensionally matched to the original Apple part.

Battery adhesive is included. Screen adhesive is not: opening an iPad means lifting the screen to reach the battery, and resealing it afterwards needs its own separate adhesive, under iPad screen adhesive.

How to fit the iPad mini 4 battery

  1. Power the device off completely before starting, since a punctured lithium battery can catch fire.
  2. Warm the screen edges and work a pick around the perimeter to release the display adhesive, then lift the screen on its hinge side.
  3. Disconnect the battery connector from the board before touching the cell.
  4. Lift the old cell out, working slowly, and never pry against it, bend it or puncture it.
  5. Fit the new battery, reconnect it, check the device powers on and charges, then reseal the screen with fresh screen adhesive.
