MacBook Pro 13-inch Battery

MacBook Pro 13-inch Replacement Battery NZ
Replacement batteries for the MacBook Pro 13-inch: A1989, A2159, A2251, A2289 and the M1 or M2 A2338. Stocked in New Zealand, fitting available.

Replacement cells for the MacBook Pro 13-inch

A machine that shuts down with charge still showing, or runs hot doing very little, has a worn cell rather than a fault. Capacity falls with every charge cycle, and on a machine in daily use the drop becomes hard to ignore somewhere past the two year mark.

Two cells cover this range. The A2171 fits the M2, M1, A2289 and A2159. The A1964 fits the A1989 and A2251. Check the model number on the underside before ordering, because the machines look identical from the outside.

Buying in New Zealand

Both cells are held in New Zealand rather than ordered in per sale, so a repair booked in the morning is not waiting on offshore freight. Everything else for this range is under MacBook Pro 13-inch Spare Parts.

Orders placed before the 2pm cut-off dispatch the same working day and reach most New Zealand addresses overnight.

Questions answered

How much does a MacBook Pro 13-inch battery replacement cost?

Fitting starts from $192.00. Tell us the model number from the underside and we will confirm the exact figure.

Which battery fits my MacBook Pro 13-inch?

The A2171 cell fits the M2, M1, A2289 and A2159. The A1964 fits the A1989 and A2251. The model number is printed along the bottom edge of the underside.

My MacBook is swelling. What should I do?

Stop using it and stop charging it. A swollen cell presses up against the trackpad and the screen, and the damage gets more expensive the longer it is left.

Will battery health still report correctly after replacement?

Aftermarket cells often cannot pass health data to macOS, so a service message can appear in System Settings. The cell itself charges and runs normally.

Can I replace the battery myself?

Yes, with the right tools. The base is held by pentalobe P5 screws and the cell is glued down, so you will want adhesive remover and patience. Repair tools are listed separately, or book it in with us.
