Sealing the rear glass
Rear glass is bonded to the frame with a continuous adhesive seal. Once that glass has been removed, whether to replace it or to reach the wireless charging coil underneath, the seal has to be renewed before the phone goes back together.
Pre-cut seals follow the frame shape, including the cutouts around the camera housing and the flash, so the bond is even the whole way round rather than thick in some places and absent in others.
Getting it right
Scrape and clean off every trace of the old bond, which is slower on rear glass than on a display
Check the coil and antenna assembly is seated before closing
Apply even pressure across the whole panel while it cures

Holding stock locally is the point. A repair booked in the morning can have its part on the bench the next day rather than the following week, and orders before 2pm dispatch that working day.
Questions answered
Is this the same as screen adhesive?
No. The rear seal follows a different outline and has cutouts the display seal does not.
How long before the phone can be used?
Follow the adhesive’s stated cure time and keep even pressure on it while it sets. Rushing this is what makes an edge lift later.
Do I need this to change a battery?
Only on repairs opened from the back. Most iPhone battery work goes in through the display instead.
