What you trade for the convenience

Wireless transfer loses energy as heat, so a wireless pack returns less of its capacity to the phone than a cabled one of the same size. Most hybrid packs keep a cabled port for exactly that reason. Cabled packs are listed under USB power banks and desk chargers under wireless chargers.

Will a magnetic pack stick through a case?

Through a thin case or a case built with magnets, yes. A thick case weakens the hold enough that the pack slides off.

Why does it feel warm?

Wireless charging generates heat as a by-product. Warm is normal; hot enough to be uncomfortable is worth stopping and checking alignment.

Can it charge while being charged?

Some packs pass power through and some do not. Where a pack supports it the listing says so.
