When a battery is the problem
A device that shuts down with charge still showing, runs hot doing very little, or needs a charger by lunchtime has a worn cell rather than a fault. Capacity drops with every charge cycle, and the fall becomes obvious somewhere around the two year mark in daily use.
Choosing the right pack
Tab S tablets are the thin, glued-together end of the range. The cell is large, the display is bonded to the frame, and one pack often covers more than one size in a generation, so check the part number on the product page.
Find your model number in Settings, then About phone, then Model number, and match it to the list on the product page. Capacity, shape and connector all change between models, so a pack from a neighbouring model will not do.
What comes with each pack
The product page lists what is included with each pack. Adhesive is what holds the cell and the cover in place, so check what you have before you start: it is under Galaxy Tab S series battery adhesive, and pry tools and spudgers are in our repair tools range.
Fitting it safely
Disconnect the battery before anything else, lift the old cell with a plastic tool rather than anything metal, and never puncture or bend a pack. A swollen cell should come out promptly and be recycled, not stored. If you would rather we did it, prices are on our Samsung repair prices page.

Questions answered
Is a tablet battery harder to replace than a phone one?
Usually. The display is bonded to the frame and the cell is held down with strong adhesive, so it takes heat and patience. We also fit them in house.
How long does a replacement battery last?
A new cell holds most of its capacity for roughly 500 full charge cycles, which is about two to three years of normal use, then starts to fade the way the original did.
Are these genuine Samsung batteries?
No. They are aftermarket cells built to the original specification, with the same capacity, voltage and physical size as the pack they replace. Each product page lists the Samsung part number they match.
Will the phone still report battery health?
Aftermarket cells often cannot pass health data to the device, and some models show a service message. The battery itself charges and runs normally.
My device is swelling. What should I do?
Stop using it and stop charging it. A swollen cell presses on the screen and should be replaced promptly. Do not puncture or bend it.
What warranty comes with a battery?
Six months against manufacturing defects. Damage caused while fitting, punctures and physical damage are not covered.
