What actually goes wrong on a folding phone

The inner display is a plastic laminate that creases along the fold and marks easily. Hinges collect grit that works into the mechanism. And there are two battery cells rather than one, split either side of the fold, which usually get replaced together. None of it is beyond a competent shop, but all of it takes longer than the equivalent job on a flat handset.
