iPhone Home Button

Replacement iPhone Home Button
Home button flex assemblies for older iPhone models, stocked in New Zealand for repair shops and sent the same working day on orders before 2pm.

For the models that still have one

Plenty of phones with a physical home button are still in daily service, and a button that has stopped responding makes one awkward to use. The assembly here covers the button, its bracket and the flex cable that connects it.

What a replacement will and will not restore

The button’s clicking and navigation function comes back with a new assembly. Fingerprint recognition does not. On these models the fingerprint sensor is paired to the phone’s logic board at the factory as a security measure, so a replacement button will press and navigate but will not read fingerprints. That is by design and no part gets around it.

Button, bracket and flex supplied as one assembly

Navigation and clicking restored

Fingerprint recognition not restored, on any replacement

The on-screen accessibility button is the usual workaround. Other small parts are under iPhone other parts, and fitting can be booked through the repairs service.

Buying in New Zealand

Stock sits in Queenstown rather than being ordered in per sale, so anything ordered before the 2pm cut-off leaves the same working day and reaches most New Zealand addresses overnight. Pickup can be arranged by appointment.

Questions answered

Why will fingerprint unlock not work?

The sensor is paired to the phone’s board at manufacture for security. No replacement button restores it, regardless of quality.

Is the button worth replacing then?

For navigation, yes. Many people replace it to make the phone usable and rely on a passcode instead.

Is there a software workaround?

The on-screen accessibility button gives you a virtual home button without any hardware work at all.
