Sold out!The tool that decides whether small parts stay found
Screws inside a phone are smaller than a grain of rice and flex cables tear if handled with anything blunt. Precision tweezers keep both under control, and a bent or misaligned pair is worse than working with fingers, because it looks like it should work.
Fine straight tips. The default pair. Placing and retrieving screws, lifting flex cables, seating small brackets.
Curved tips. Reaching under brackets and around components without moving the whole assembly.
Anti-static tips. Board-level work, where a static discharge into an exposed component is a real risk.
Why a pair stops gripping
Almost always because the tips no longer meet cleanly. Dropping a pair on a hard floor is enough to misalign them, and after that every screw is a coin flip. Hold them up to the light closed: if you can see daylight between the tips, they are done.
Handling flex cables
Flex cables tear along a crease rather than snapping cleanly, so grip them at the reinforced tab where one exists and never pull against a connector still latched. A torn flex on an otherwise good part turns a cheap repair into an expensive one.
Buying precision tweezers in New Zealand
GA Tech NZ stocks the tweezers it uses on its own bench, where tip alignment matters more than the price on the handle. Stock is held in Queenstown rather than ordered in per sale, so orders placed before the 2pm cut-off dispatch the same working day and reach most New Zealand addresses overnight. Local pickup is available by appointment, and repair shops and resellers can request trade pricing through wholesale deals.
Complete tool sets are under repair kits, and board-level equipment under soldering tools.
Tweezers questions answered
What tweezers do I need for phone repair?
A fine straight pair covers most work. Add a curved pair for reaching under brackets, and anti-static tips if you work on exposed boards.
Why do my tweezers keep dropping screws?
The tips no longer meet cleanly. Hold them closed against the light, and if you can see daylight between the tips, replace them.
Are anti-static tweezers necessary?
For board-level work they are worth it. For screen and battery replacements, standard precision tweezers are sufficient.
How do I handle a flex cable without tearing it?
Grip the reinforced tab where there is one, and never pull against a connector that is still latched. Flex cables tear along a crease.
